Beyond the March: Staying Engaged

Beyond the March: Staying Engaged

You all joined us, donated, and otherwise enabled a 2017 Women's March unlike anything San Francisco has seen in decades. Still, the barrage of attacks feels unceasing, and we are building a movement with the energy and connections unleashed in that moment.

Civic engagement is participation in activities that improve one’s community or address wider social issues. Political and non-political in nature, civic engagement ranges from participating in the electoral process and volunteering to advocacy or activism.

Our community members often feel lost or overwhelmed when it comes to civic engagement, not knowing where to start or how to engage. We wanted to help by creating a resource page with multiple local nonprofit and community organizations that the community can volunteer with and support: https://womensmarchsf.org/beyond-the-march

Action

For those of you unable to attend last week's sold out event, we've brought tips and resources from SHIFT Happens: Women's Policy Summit presented by San Francisco Department on the status of women and the African-American art and cultural complex.

Women’s March San Francisco hosted along with our friends Alliance for Girls the Interactive Workshop: Beyond the March – From Rallies to Reform: Getting Activated and Empowered and Staying Engaged for the Long Haul.

Action Items list

The entire presentation from that event and a list of opportunities for engagement can be found at https://womensmarchsf.org/beyond-the-march, with opportunities listed by Commissions, opportunities to Donate, Membership organizations, general Resources and places to Volunteer or Take Action.

In solidarity and engagement,

Women's March SF
