Accessibility

We are making every effort to ensure accessibility for both the Rally & March. We will have an accessibility area in front of the stage and ASL interpreters on the stage (see site map below for location #4). In an effort to make the march accessible to all, we have secured a trolley for people with different mobility/access needs. There are limited seats and we ask for your assistance in assuring transport for those who are truly in need. All passengers must be registered and checked in on Saturday by 12:00 PM, at corner of Grove and Polk (#3 on map below).

Please go to the Eventbrite post, containing detailed information about the Trolley boarding process and timing, and Register for a seat, as tickets are required, and we will have a limited number of tickets available. No motorized vehicles will be allowed on the trolley.

Trolley will offload passengers at Spear, between Market and Mission, and will not be returning to Civic Center after the march.

Public Transportation Options

We strongly recommend public transportation, as parking around the event will be extremely limited. Consider purchasing your BART, Muni or Ferry ticket in advance so that you don’t have to wait in lines during the day of the march to purchase one! You can find out more about purchasing Clipper cards that are accepted on BART and Muni here.

For real-time bus and transit info, visit 511.org to map your route using BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Muni, buses, ferries, or Amtrak.

Buses/Trains

Buses running along or crossing Market Street will be impacted. Both Muni buses and ride sharing companies will be routed to Mission Street during the March, meaning buses will not be running along Market Street from the Embarcadero to 11th Street. Grove Street will also be closed from Polk to Market. Mission Street access will be restricted to transportation only vehicles between Van Ness/12th St and Embarcadero.

In preparation, you can download a map of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) here and Muni Metro train/subway here, as both will continue to run during the March.

The closest metro/BART station to the Rally & March lineup area is Civic Center on these BART lines: Richmond –> Daly City/Millbrae, Warm Springs –>Daly City, Antioch–> SFO/Millbrae, and Dublin / Pleasanton–>Daly City and the Muni J, K, L, M, N or T lines. The closest metro/BART station to the end of the march is Montgomery station (the larger station) or Embarcadero station.

Transportation Agency specific links:

  • BART (exit Civic Center/UN Plaza Station to get to Rally)

  • AC Transit

  • SamTrans

  • CalTrain (exit San Francisco Station, 4th & King), and use trip planner to find transportation to Civic Center

    • 30/45 SoMa Shuttle will also operate in a loop between the Caltrain Station and Mission Street until the march is over

  • Golden Gate Transit

Ferries

The end of the march near the Embarcadero is easily accessible by ferry to Larkspur, Sausalito, Oakland, Alameda, and Vallejo. Select SF Ferry Building Terminal as your departure and you can walk across the street to the Ferry Building. If you arrive in SF by ferry, you can take any of the underground Muni Metro trains (outbound) to Civic Center/UN Plaza, as bus routes along Market Street may be impacted.

Ride Sharing Services

Ride shares services will NOT be able to pick up passengers on the March route along Market Street, so please be prepared to walk past Mission Street, as pick zones will be created by each of the ride sharing services (use your app for geofencing specifics). Suggested areas to schedule a pickup via Uber/Lyft/Taxi:

  • North side of Howard St. between Embarcadero & Spear St.

  • North side of Folsom St. between Embarcadero & Spear St.

Children

If you are bringing your children to the Rally & March (which we hope you do!), please be aware that the playgrounds in Civic Center Plaza will be closed during the Rally. As an added measure, we recommend that the phone numbers of the child’s guardians’ be written on their arms, or included in their pocket, during the event to help reunite a lost child. We also want to remind guardians that the end of the march is often very crowded, so kids could become easily separated from their guardians. If you become separated from your child, notify one of the Peace Ambassadors (wearing a yellow vest).

FAQ

WHAT DO I BRING?
Water, snacks, sunscreen, and if it is raining, please consider bringing a poncho instead of an umbrella. Dress comfortable and in layers, check the weather!

Bring posters and signs, preferably with no wooden or metal posts.  Cardboard tubes from wrapping paper make safe and good handles if need be. Whiteboards are also a great environmental and customizable option.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF IT RAINS?
The same thing that will happen if it doesn't rain, the rally and march will still go on! Please consider bringing a poncho instead of an umbrella. Remember 110,000 marched in the pouring rain in 2017, we got this!!!

WHO IS INVITED?
Everyone who believes in a positive and just future. Who stand together for human rights, civil liberties and social justice for all and believes in our UNITY PRINCIPLES https://womensmarchsf.org/mission/

IS THE RALLY AND MARCH KID FRIENDLY?
Yes. We encourage everyone who shares the same values to attend.  For more specific information, see Children section above.

CAN MY ORGANIZATION HAVE A TABLE AT THE EVENT?

No. We do not have an area for tabling in our site plan for both the rally and the march.

CAN I RIDE MY BICYCLE TO THE RALLY?
While we encourage the use of bicycles to get to Civic Center, we ask that you please do not bring your bicycle into the Rally area or on the March route itself, for crowd safety reasons.  Bicycle parking will not be provided.
